Part Number Derivation
Transclosures come in a variety of sizes. To aid in a quick response for a quotation, Table 1
illustrates how to derive a part number. If given a part number, responses to quotations can be immediate. If there is a
particular size you desire that is not listed or you would like to customize your order, responses to your request will
be within 24 hrs.

| The first two characters in the part
number are dedicated to the manufacturer. These two letters distinguish the product from other items
manufactured by Gilbert Electrical Systems. "KM"
represents an enclosure only with no interior equipment supplied.
The following four characters are the width and depth of each bay (refer to Figure 1).
If you desire a total overall length larger than 84 inches, then two bays may be used to make up the unit
(refer to Figure 2).
For instance, if you need an enclosure with a length of 96", a width of 48"
and a height of 50" two 48" units can be adjoined to make one. P/N: KM48502A

There are many ways to customize your order in lieu of different sizes. Items such as protective barriers
behind each door, penta head door handles, dead front, live front, etc. Since different needs require different
enclosures, Table 2 is a list of options that may guide you in constructing a Gilbert Electrical Systems part
number. Just add these options to the end of your number from above in succession if more that one option is available.
The first two options in Table 2 are door handles. Standard Eberhard door handles are provided
unless replaced by these options. The following four options are protective barriers. Utilities, electric companies, and
REA sometimes require these protective barriers, which are located directly behind the door. All barriers are Nema and
IEEE compliant.
The final two options are windows in the doors and no venting. If ordering a window in the doors
please specify how many doors must have windows in them by adding a number immediately after the –W.

No unit is complete without universal mounting rails and hardware (Table 3). To mount
electrical equipment such as PT’s, CT’s, switches, capacitors, and all other items, universal mounting rails and
hardware is a must.
These sturdy angle and channel brackets attach easily to the unit via mounting holes located in the
door and side panel facings. With their universal mounting hole arrangement the rails are sure to fit any desired hole
pattern or whatever your needs may be.
When requesting pricing for mounting rails, keep in mind price breaks are given at quantities of ten,
twenty and fifty. If ordering with enclosures, rails are shipped inside.
